A New Mediterranean Neighborhood Gem Opens in the Heart of Little Italy

About Us

Bella Ciao, meaning “goodbye beautiful” –and inspired by a folk song from Italy— has taken over the spot of Capri, known for its attraction to tourists and quality Italian dining. The new spot, with its new name is fitting, as the owner, Marcello Assante of Local 92, Capri and Marcellino to name a few, is saying goodbye to his previous restaurant and creating a new community gathering place, to bring a sense of unity and belonging in the strange time of the pandemic when New Yorkers seek places of comfort and gathering.

The Bella Ciao menu is specifically curated to represent the notion of inclusivity and togetherness that Assante wants his latest restaurant to convey. New standout dishes created by former Ducasse alum, cover the gamut of an array of European flavors, through a Mediterranean lense. The restaurant’s wood-fired brick oven is the centerpiece for much of the fare.

Bella Ciao has positioned itself to be a homecoming for local New Yorkers, and will surely be a place where folks will come to celebrate life together and indulge in good times with friends and neighbors during both trying and easier times to come under one roof.
